Where is Riverland SA? The Riverland is a region in South Australia’s east, centered around the Murray River, extending from the South Australia/Victorian border, following the river westwards as far as Blanchetown.
It is an irrigation area, relying heavily on the waters of the Murray for the production of fruit and vegetables, with a heavy emphasis on wine and table grapes, almonds, stone fruit and citrus. It is also a great place to experience a wealth of tourism fun: kayaking, boating, walking, cycling, wineries, breweries, history, playgrounds and local produce, with many places to eat and stay.
How far away is the Riverland?
Berri, which is central to the Riverland, is
2 hour 40 minute drive from North Adelaide. (Truro is a great little half-way stop – public toilets always open, and a Bakery that’s well worth a visit between 9 and 5. If you’re travelling outside of those hours and are looking for a feed, we’d suggest stopping in at Nuriootpa – the Caltex Star Mart is just off of the highway and is open 24 hours, or in Waikerie – the ViewPoint Café Service Station (which does indeed offer a lovely view over the river valley from their deck, is open from 6am to 8pm .

What are the roads like?
Highway A20 will get you to the Riverland. Berri lies on Highway B201 – a small deviation off of A20. The roads are sealed with a good width of sealed shoulder, good signposting, and Google knows them well, (If you are asking Google to direct you there)
Can I get fuel after hours in the Riverland?
There are tesla charging stations in Renmark, Loxton, Sunlands, and Waikerie.
There are 24 hour service stations in Berri, Barmera, Renmark, Loxton, Waikerie and Yamba
Can I catch public transport to the Riverland?
From Mildura you can travel via bus to the Riverland .
If flying your own private plane, there are small airports at Waikerie, Renmark and Loxton
Well worth a visit, the Riverland will keep you entertained for at least a week – who knows – you might decide that a river-change is just what you need!
